D.I.Y : Tinted Lip Balm

Hi all! Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own tinted lip balm! I have trouble getting the colour of the tinted lip balms which I have been wanting and looks like there isn't such a colour available in Singapore:( The thing about creating your own tinted lip balm is that you can control how much do you want the colour to show up on your lips- be it sheer, semi-sheer, or something similar to NYX's lip lacquer.

Let's get started, shall we? *winks.

Materials needed:
1.       Lush cosmetics Ultrabalm
2.       Lipstick
3.       2 tiny spatulas
4.       A tiny clean container, preferably those from counter-brands GWP
5.       Tissue and Kitchen Towels

I chose Lush cosmetics' Ultrabalm as the base of my tinted lip balm as they aren't as sticky and have a smoother consistency as compared to using a clear lip balm. I have tried using a clear lip balm previously, it is super sticky at the end and cleaning up the tools used would be tedious. Ultrabalm is VEGAN, that means that we can actually eat it and it's animal friendly! Ultrabalm works wonders to my insect bites, I'm sure it will work well on the lips as well. The ingredients used in Ultrabalm was super nutritious for the skin- especially Candelilla wax (a vegan alternative to beeswax) helps the skin retain moisture!

Here are the steps:

11. Scoop a portion of Ultrabalm using a spatula and place it into the tiny container.

2. Using another spatula cut a portion of your lipstick and place it on a flat plate. (I’m using a black lid for illustration purposes.) I'm using a plum-red lipstick with bits of glitter and shine. Gently slice the lipstick into smaller pieces and eventually into a smooth paste. This should be how the portions of both the lipstick and Ultrabalm looks like., by approximation.

Tip: Try to use a lipstick that has a glossy shine in it. This is to give bit of shine to your lips without the trouble putting on another layer of lip shine. If happens that you're using a matte lip stick, do add a bit of lip gloss of the similar shade that you're using or clear lip butter. I would recommend Palmer's Lip butter as it's super delicious and lots of shine. A tiny bit of it will do the job!

33. Scoop the lipstick paste using the spatula and place it into the tiny container which already contained Ultrabalm.

44.  Mix both the lipstick paste and Ultrabalm together in one direction using the spatula for the lipstick. This would ensure that the lipstick paste would distribute evenly in the Ultrabalm, giving it a smooth texture. It would take approximately 10-20 minutes to mix them thoroughly and evenly. This would be how the product looks like after mixing for 15 minutes.

This is the amount of lip balm we have created with the above formulation. It is approximately 1/4 of the whole jar. I'm using a GWP sample jar from Clinque as usually counter brands GWP containers do have a better quality of plastic used and to make sure that the lip balm doesn't ruin the container. I'm sure you don't want to end up with a lip balm cum plastic combination!

15. Screw tight the container with the cap and place it somewhere that has a flat surface and away from the sunlight, e.g. table, for 3-4 hours. This would allow the lip balm to settle and ¼ hardened.

26. Repeat Step 4 and 5 three to four times or until the texture of the lip balm is smooth.

37. Allow the lip balm to settle and screw tight the container with the cap. Place it somewhere has a flat surface and away from the sunlight for 3-4 days.

48.  Ta Da! Your lip balm is done!~

These are the lip balms which I've been working for the past 4 days :D The one on the left has a slightly coral-peachy colour to it and the one on the right is kind of glossy sheer red. I'm using Aqualicious' Little Mermaid lipstick which I've got from my recent swap which I'm going to blog about it slightly later for the coral, peachy one. As for the sheer red lip balm, I'm using Essence cosmetics' Lip Pencil in Trendsetter, not sure if the lip pencil's available in the shelves of Watsons as the company mailed it to me recently.

I'm going to gift them to my lovely girls when I'm meeting them this Friday! (You know who you are~)  Can't wait!! >3

Till then~ xx

Sponsored Review: LoveMore Rose Crystal and Tourmaline Moisturing Mask

Hi all! Today's review would be about one of the few mask sheets which I've tried recently and I'm raving them. Among these, this would be ranked 2nd on my must-try list for facial sheet masks. You'll know why later!

Yep! It's LoveMore's Crystal &Peptide Enriched Kiss Series. The one I'll be reviewing today would be LoveMore's Rose Crystal and Tourmaline Moisturing Mask!

Here are my thoughts:
1. Felt rather soothing upon the rose scent of the mask, it's just right! On top of that, the scent could double up as a light aromatherapy session during the 'masking' time.

2. There's much essence left in the packet after taking the mask sheet out. The essence has a milky-white translucent liquid, slightly thinner than SexyLook's, common for whitening masks.

3. Mask stays firm on my face, does not droop while sitting upright. Probably it's with the help of earhooks on the sheet mask.

4. LoveMore's masks are much wider in diameter as compared to SexyLook's. Fabric used for LoveMore&SexyLook's sheet masks were different.

5. Pores became visably smaller just after 15 mins of usage, would have to 'repeat' for once a week to achieve better results. *Urgh, forgot to take pictures before and after:/

6. Not much lift-up effect seen after one usage, as compared to SexyLook's.

7. Would prefer SexyLook's over LoveMore for lift-up effect and thicker essence in mask sheet though the price difference is just a dollar!

LoveMore Rose Crystal and Tourmaline Moisturing Mask (5pcs/box) is retailing at $9.90 at Watsons, Sasa, Guradian, etc. Secretive.sg is having a promotion at $8.90 per box! :D I'm gonna check out the new SexyLook's Black Cotton mask soon~ *squeals

That's all for today!~ xx Krystal

Tagged: The Beauty Bucket List

Hi all! I have recently chanced upon lovely Roxanne's blog and Yvette's blog about her Beauty Bucket List and feel that it would be very interesting to make a list of those which I would want to experience. Here's my bucket:
Credits: (HERE)

Just kidding! My bucket would be filled with lots of wonderful activities I would want to experience before I kicked the bucket. Here's the real bucket list: (I'll try to be beauty and lifestyle-related!)

1. Give a chance to false lashes once more.
I'm really clumsy in putting on false lashes that I gave up putting them on. I was in a complete awe on Roxanne's beauty booth at Mary Chia's Spa Party that the girls could put on false lashes properly. Sigh :(

2. Get a manicure done.
I couldn't get to try manicure most of them time because I'm using my fingers more than others do. Partly because I am doing a course which needs much practicing with my fingers, I couldn't afford to have nail polishes on my fingernails while having lesson.

3. Teeth Whitening!
My teeth are not really yellow or white, but it's just that tea and coffee do stain my teeth for the past 8 years and they haven't been pearly white since then. Though I do rinse my mouth after drinking tea or coffee since 6 years ago, the stain's still there.

4. Try out Clinque's Redness solution.
I can't seem to find this product at most of the Clinque counters that I have been too, could someone please enlighten me on where to get this from?

5. Get a set of a non-drugstore cosmetics. (I'm thinking of Lancome, heh.)
Only if Clinque's not a drugstore product :p

6. Get my face on some snail products.

7. Get started with a Youtube channel, featuring some makeup tutorials and interesting videos.
This was like... my dream few years ago, always wanting to feature some of the new products that I have got and of course, makeup tutorials and tips. But still, I haven't figure out how to take videos with my DSLR. Bummer.

8. Trying out some spa programme and facial treatments.
Can't believe it that I have not gone for any facial treatments or spa programmes yet, but I'm still young. Heh.

9. Getting my hands on some pampering hand treatments.
Have you got any idea how rough (I'll not say it's tad rough, but a big difference with my classmates' hands of the same age.) my hands are? There're lots of lines on my palms and I've been rotating hand creams all round. But still, couldn't find a better solution.

10.  Exercising moderately.
Probably this is one of the most vigorous ways to stay healthy and strong, other than having lots of fibre, fruits and vegetables!

11.  Find the correct shades of coral and red lipsticks.
This was one of the most horrid problems which I've faced- I can't seem to get my perfect lipstick shades. I mean, matte ones.

12. Try out the this year's trend- tangerine tango
Doubt I'll be looking fab in shades of orange:(

This would be it for my bucket list!
Will be right back with my haul recently, reviews and food~ xoxo

Some inspirations today...

Sponsored review: SexyLook Extreme Whitening Duo Lifting Masks

Hi all! I'm going to introduce a series of Sexylook and LoveMore facial sheet masks which I have been raving them ever since they are in Singapore. Today, it's Sexylook's Extreme Whitening Duo Lifting masks. It contains black pearl, white truffle and barley, who could resist that? *nom nom, truffle fries...(pun intended)

These are the ingredients which contributed to its multi whitening effect of the mask. It aims to improve uneven skintone, minimizing dark spots and most importantly, moisturise our skin(face, i mean).

There is a rather light scent upon opening the packaging of the mask. This was the scent which calmed my nerves down immediately unlike the scents of other facial sheet masks which I have tried. It is not as overwhelming as I had expected. The mask was soaked in thick, not-so-diluted kind of essence. This was different from the other SexyLook masks that I have tried; it has a translucent, milky kind if essence. There's not much essence left in the packaging after I have taken out the sheet mask for usage.

I liked the concept of having ear hooks for sheet masks. It provides a duo lifting effect that could be visible after usage, giving a 'contoured' kind of moisturising look to my face. However, what I have experienced is that the sheet mask was tad small in size for my 'oval-round' face. I'd have to stretch the sheet first before placing it on my face. It does cover most of the areas on my face, except the nose bridge and the areas between my nose and cheeks.

Overall, my pores became much smaller than before (I had much enlarged pores at the cheeks and nose area.). My face became much radiant than before.

SexyLook masks are found in Watsons, Sasa and Guardian at $8.80 per box. Secretive.sg does sell them at a promotional price at $7.90.  If I'm not wrong, I remember that I've bought individual pieces from Sasa at $2 per piece.

Thanks a lot to lovely Sarina and secretive.sg for the masks and making sure that I have received them! :D

That's all for today! Thanks for reading!

Giveaway: La Mademoiselle, Mon Cheri's First Birthday

Hi guys! I'm back in the evening with another good news for you all! As it's my blog's first birthday month, I would like to show my appreciation to all my readers by having a giveaway.
I have been thinking of a great idea for this giveaway and finally came up with one.
Guess what's this:

You're right, it's a Bellabox! This is something like the monthly subscription beauty boxes that are available in the market today, where there are 4-5 deluxe or full-sized products in it(most of them would be full-sized). Well, I'm not going to give away Bellaboxes to my readers but the concept is rather similar to Bellabox. Instead, I'm going to customise a box (something like Bellabox/ VanityTrove) especially for you!

Well, it might be...... (some teasers here)

 My favourite Soap and Glory!

My favourite lip, eye products and Essence's nail polishes^^

Might be something from my favourite high-end brands, be it Estee Lauder, Clinque, Urban Decay, Stila, Benefit, etc.

However, the products in the customised box would be totally depends on you; the box may not necessary contain some of the above products that I have featured! This giveaway would be definitely going international and the deadline would be 30 June 2012, 10pm (Singapore time, GMT +8).
